Vacuum-fried Veggie Mix

Our Freeze-dried Tropical Fruit Mix is an all-natural blend of strawberries, pineapples and bananas. The only thing taken out of these fruits through the freeze-drying process is water; there are absolutely no additives or preservatives. They are wheat, fat and gluten free, but rich in nutrients and antioxidants. Only 15 grams of our fruit mix cover more than 100% of an adult’s recommended daily vitamin C intake. Furthermore, less water equals more flavour and a satisfying crunch that both kids and adults love. All this, and it’s only 112 calories per serving!

Our Fruit Mix comes in a convenient resealable bag that is great for kids’ lunches, hiking, school, work, or an anytime snack on-the-go. Fresh, straight-out-of-the-bag freeze-dried fruit is surprisingly light and crispy, with a unique tart crunch.

Freeze-dried Tropical Fruit Mix

Who says veggies can’t be a delightful snack?

First, we prepare thick slices of fresh, hand-selected vegetables. Then we prepare them at low temperatures in a vacuum fryer, which retains the veggies’ wholesome flavours and nourishing vitamins and nutrients. The result is a healthy and crispy veggie snack that is insanely delicious and good for you.

Thanks to our unique frying method, our snack contains 30% less oil than the average chips. This means that with our snack you get more chips and less oil for your money! Our veggie chips are of course 100% natural, and they contain no trans fat, gluten or preservatives.

About us

About us

Highly nutritious and insanely delicious

I believe that snacking is not a sin, but it matters what you munch on!

It is said that necessity is the mother of invention. I travelled extensively in Asia and South America in the past ten years and after I moved back to Hungary, I couldn’t find the snacks I came to love during my travels. So I decided to create my own line of nutritious and satisfying munchies that would support a healthy lifestyle. My goal is to introduce lines of wholesome, all-natural, healthy snacks that are tasty, crunchy and fun but completely free of preservatives, added sugars, trans fats and excessive sodium.

By producing quality nutritional snacks, we at Snack Garden hope to enable everybody to experience a happier, healthier life that tastes amazing!

Freeze-dried fruit delicacies

Joghurt Dip

Ingredients
  • 350g Greek Yoghurt
  • 85g fresh seedless white grapes, chopped
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1/4tsp Chilli Powder or Paprika
  • 50g Shelled Walnut quarters
  • 1 ripe banana
  • 1 tsp freshly ground cumin seed
  • • salt & milled black pepper

 Yield: 8-10 servings

Instructions
Place the yoghurt in a chilled bowl. Add the freshly chopped grapes and quarters of walnuts. Slice the banana directly into the mixture and fold in gently before the banana turns brown. Add the sugar, salt and ground cumin and gently mix together. Chill until ready to use. Just before serving, sprinkle the top of the dip with the chilli powder or paprika.

Buttermilk-
Parsley Dipping Sauce

Ingredients

  • 1 (7-ounce) cup 2% Greek yogurt
  • 6 tablespoons buttermilk
  • 2 tablespoons minced parsley

  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest
  • 1 teaspoon honey
  • salt to taste

Fruity Chocolate Bark

Ingredients

  • 8 ounces good quality, dark chocolate (70-80%), very finely chopped
  • 1 cup assorted Freeze-dried Tropical Fruit Mix

Yield: 1 8x10 piece

Instructions
In a microwave, double boiler, or chocolate melter, gently melt chocolate on the lowest possible heat setting. Stir regularly, removing from heat as needed. The goal here is to keep the temperature under 50 degrees, above which the chocolate will lose its temper. Be patient, keep stirring, and even with on and off low heat the chocolate will melt eventually. Once melted and smooth, pour chocolate onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Spread into an even layer (it will not cover the entire pan, just spread it until it's as thick as you want your final bark to be).
Sprinkle evenly with freeze-dried fruit. Let dry, uncovered at room temperature, for 1 to 2 hours or until set. Break into serving size pieces. Because of the nature of freeze-dried fruit, this particular bark is best enjoyed within a day or two, as the fruit will begin to soften once exposed to humidity. The bark is good for up to a week, however, the fruit just might be a bit softer after a few days out in the open.

FAQ

FAQ

What is freeze-drying and why is it good for me?

Freeze drying is a remarkable method of food preservation that does not damage the nutritional value of food. It works by freezing the food, turning the water within it into ice. Then it uses pressure to make the ice evaporate, leaving the food intact but without any water. . Other methods of food preservation, such as canning and dehydrating, use higher temperatures that destroy nearly half (50%) of the food’s nutritional value. With freeze-drying the consistency, shape, colour and intense flavour of the food stay the same.

What is vacuum frying and why is it good for me?

Vacuum drying is a healthier alternative to deep-fat frying. It uses a fryer inside of a vacuum chamber, which means that the food can be cooked at a lower temperature. According to the Journal of Food Science, this significantly reduces the amount of oil the food absorbs and helps to preserves the food’s vitamins and colour. This makes vacuum frying a great way to produce nutritious and novel snacks with the taste we love.
